Well it’s Friday the 13th. But also, it’s Friday the 13th, the day Nintendo Wii pre-orders became available, first come first serve, at EB Games. Which we didn’t know about until yesterday! So yesterday evening we went to check when the store would open (10am), and how many pre-orders would be available (30). I thought that meant that we could get there in line at like 8am, eh, no big, 30 is a good number. But the EB Games people recommended 4AM!!! I KNOW! Complete madness. But geeeeez, we’d talked about pre-ordering for sooo long, so we thought we’d try. Yut didn’t bother going to sleep, and I was gonna try to stay up too, but I got too tired, so I slept for 2 hours or so. By 4:45AM (!!!) we were there, numbers 9 and 10 in line. The first 3 kids in line had been there since 7pm (before the store closed) the previous day.
We were the oldest ones there! And it showed cos I was sooo tired but I couldn’t fall asleep. At 5:15am, I got in another line — for Starbucks. The Starbucks didn’t open til 5:30, but there were two old guys standing around discussing politics. At least I wasn’t one of the oldest ones there too — one of them mentioned being 21 in 1960. :P
I’m not really sure where I’m going with this post, and I think I’m having trouble following thoughts through and being coherent. Suffice it to say, I am tired. Not like I’m gonna fall asleep any second, but more like my head feels fuzzy or something. But we got our Wiis!
I think that in hindsight, if we had gotten there at 6am, it would’ve been fine. 8am would’ve been cutting it close. But on the other hand, if we’d gone to sleep for real, then by 6am, we might’ve changed our minds about the whole scheme. (For some reason, “madcap caper” came to mind first, and “scheme” second, but I’m not sure if that is right. :P) So maybe it had to be done this way. Yeah.
