We went to Australia for the last two weeks. Flew outta SFO on Friday, arrived in Sydney on Sunday (we crossed the date line), then connected to Cairns. We flew Qantas (our first time) and dude we really like Qantas. They had movies on demand and lots of food (edible!) and snacks and hot chocolates and teas and we even got socks and a toothbrush. I watched the Queen (really good!), Babel (ok), and Borat (laugh out loud funny in parts). Anyhows, it was definitely a reasonable flight. Gawd it’s no wonder the US airlines are having money problems.

The Rydges Esplanade Hotel/Apartments in Cairns couldn’t find our reservation, but Jeffrey at the front desk found something for us, and then upgraded us to a 2 bedroom apartment, which was pretty awesome. The place had a/c, kitchen, balconies, 2 bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. It was nicer than home. :P Still though, if I were going to do this again, I would try to stay closer to the wharf I think (more southeast). There’s a ton of food places and stuff right near Abbott and Shields or Abbott and Spence. The walk wasn’t bad, just got long doing it everyday. Especially cos it’s tropical and the heat and humidity was a sucky combination.

We picked two different companies and went snorkeling two days in a row. And there’s more I wanna say, but now I’m tired. So more later. Also, I uploaded like a bajillion pictures — I think Yut and I took over 2000! I think it’s clear I have a lack of ability to edit. But that’s the beauty of an online photo album with thumbnails! =)
