We usually walk to the local grocery store, so we carry 2 backpacks (like the big ones you carry in high school:p) inside of one backpack with wheels (which Yut carries there and we wheel home laden with stuffs). This way we don’t need to answer paper or plastic, and anyways, three bags is about right anyways. Good plan, eh? ‘Cept this happened a while back:

One of the wheels fell off! I mean, we tend to pack the wheel bag with the most heavy stuff (pumpkin ale, milk — stuff like that), but I think we must’ve over packed it. The wheel came off and for a while, we thought maybe the leaves (damn autumn!) must be clogging things up and creating extra friction — note how we kept dragging it for a while, wearing down the plastic. But no, it was cos we lost the wheel somewheres. Oooooops!

But we’re gonna go see if Yut’s parents have anymore wheeled backpacks — they get them from travel tour companies or I think the last one his dad bought to wheel his laptop around, then realized he didn’t wheel his laptop around much. So we took it. :)

When someone sends a UPS tracking number to my Yahoo email account, there’s this feature called Yahoo! Shortcuts (which heretofore I thought was useless), that automagically makes it a link which takes me directly to the tracking page for that number (as in I don’t have to type anything). It’s awesome! I know, I know, a lot of vendors include a “track my package” link that does the exact same thing, and anyway it’s not that hard to go to ups.com and copy and paste in the tracking number, and I don’t actually need it all that often anyway. But dude, it’s nice — my eyes hit the tracking number, and then my mouse, and voila, info at my fingertips.

Speaking of email though, a couple of nights ago, I had about 5-10 minutes when I just couldn’t log in to my Y! mail account. It was really random, kept telling me my username or password was wrong when I knew both were fine. Yut was able to log in on the same computer, so I knew it wasn’t something to do with my computer (caps lock or whatever), and then however many minutes later, it was all fine again. Scary! I really wish Yahoo would allow me to use an email application (like Thunderbird) to check my mail and save a copy on my computer (via IMAP or at least POP). I know it was only 5-10 minutes, but what if it hadn’t fixed itself? This is one area where Gmail is superior (not that Yahoo! is superior everywhere else, more that both are whatevers to me), only I am pretty sure most people don’t keep a backup of their Gmail either. :D

Not like it’s news (I mean that I’m not a morning person), but this morning, I went to put on my contact lenses — I’m usually v. routine driven (cos that’s the only way to get through a morning) — always my right contact, then my left. This morning, I rinsed off my lens as usual, then popped it into my right eye. Then I went back to my lens case to get my left lens, but dude, the left lens was gone! I’d taken out my left lens first today for some unknown reason, and it even took me a second to figure out why my left lens wasn’t in the case.

Anyways, so I went to take out my left lens from my right eye. But in the time it took me to take the lens out and clean it, I completely forgot I was going to put it in my left eye, and I put it in my right eye again. And I didn’t even figure it out until I looked at my lens case. Again. OMG!!! So I had to go through all of the taking out and cleaning, only this time without the disengaging of my brain, I guess. Thankfully, and I never knew that getting my lenses in right was something to be grateful for before, everything went according to plan on my third try and I could see nicely. Blech. Mornings.

Amongst canned root beers, Mug’s is better than A&W — more flavor, not so sweet, more bubbly. I should say though, that all three tasters (misa, yut, and me) prefer Coke to Pepsi. But in our defense, I found a Taster’s Choice article which agreed! Oh but one thing I want to mention, I think Hey-Song Sarsaparilla (from Taiwan, but available at Asian markets), which is similar-ish to root beer, is also pretty good, maybe better!

If you’re ever bored, check out Starcraft games (if you’re awake at 2am PST, you can watch them live if you install the GomPlayer) on GomTV.net. No, I’m not usually this big of a nerd, it’s really all pol’s fault, he’s the one who told me about this. But it is kinda fun, and I wasn’t even ever a fan of Starcraft.

It’s pumpkin season! Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin, oh yes!

It’s also getting to the rainy season — we’ve already had our first drizzle of autumn. In fact, it might be drizzling right now as I type. I’m thinking seriously about buying a space heater for the bathroom. Oh and a pair of wellies, which I thought of last year but not ’til closer to the end of the rainy season, and I kept thinking the rain was gonna stop soon. Sadly, I was continually wrong. :p

My computer messed up my profile or something twice in the last two weeks! I’m probably going to reinstall Windows this weekend. Blech — maybe I’ll beg Yut to take care of it for me. :D

But still, I’m so glad it’s the weekend!

I woke up this morning cos of a weird dream. I mean, I actually have no idea what the dream was about, but the part that woke me up was this crazy swarm of ants crawling all over someone’s jacket. No idea how the ants fit into the dream, but blech! But also, I woke up with the unsettling feeling that I’d dreamed about crazy swarms of ants before. I think it’s cos once I left some hard candy in my backpack too long — the wrapper fell off, and I didn’t realize it was there, and the ants came in (cos they do that in the rainy season) and found it and went crazy! So I tried to brush them off, but ants are persistent and there’s a million of them and one of me, and I probably hardly count as one since I’m squeamish about bugs, and so finally I had to go wash my backpack, which probably killed a lot of them (although I think I’ve read that ants are ok swimmers). Which makes me wonder if my dreams are an expression of guilt or if they’re an expression of my fear and squicked-out-ness. Which is a lot to wonder on a Sunday morning, so I went back to sleep ’til past noon.

There’s a new Staples in town, and I guess they sent out little presents like, “come check us out” sorta thing, including a $25 coupon. Well this weekend was basically the last weekend to use it, so yesterday we spent over an hour walking up and down the aisle of Staples trying to figure out what to buy. Usually I’m good at buying things, especially tech gadgets, I love ‘em! But I dunno, we weren’t really looking for anything and it’s not like $25 is that significant when it comes to gadgety things. In the end, we bought some super glue (you never know when that stuff’ll come in handy), 2 pairs of scissors (we’ve been using the poor kitchen shears for everything), a 6 pack of pens (on sale for 50¢), and… toilet paper (you can’t really have too much toilet paper:p). Also it was Marcal toilet paper, which is one of the brands of 100% recycled paper toilet papers that I hadn’t tried yet. Still, at some point before we realized that Staples actually sells recycled fiber toilet paper, we were standing in front of the bucket of Red Vines trying to decide, no actually discussing, if we could finish them fast enough or if we even wanted to, or if we’d get sick of them, and after they hardened who would eat them. It was totally ridiculous — who knew that randomly trying to spend $25 could be so hard. In the end we paid about $8 something for all that junx, not bad, I guess, and now we really know our local Staples backwards and forwards. Erm, yay.
