No time to post, must play Zelda
We played over 7 hours (maybe over 8?) of Zelda on Sunday. With a 1 hour break for dinner, otherwise non-stop. We had dim sum with Al and Julie and then they came over to play with the Wii for 3 hours or so, then since everything was set up for play already, we thought we’d get a couple of hours of Zelda in. Famous last words, that. Or something
Cradle Robbery
You remember the first time I tested my Brain Age? I was 78 years old (!) while Yut was only 50-something. Well Wii Sports tests your Wii Fitness Age, and mine was 52. Fifty two I tell ya!!! Yut was like 35. I’m talking like it’s in the past and as time goes on, things improve or something, but nope, the truth is, Yut is ALWAYS ALWAYS younger than me, mentally and physically; I never beat him. SUCKS! I guess Stella-Got-Her-Groove-Back-ness is better than male mid-life crisis cliché. (Right?) But it’s a little galling to be a premature senior citizen. :P
Anti-Chafe
After we saw A Shopper’s Guide to Home Tissue Products, we decided to switch over to brands with more post-consumer recycled content. We’ll be switching things as we finish up what we already have, but I mean, as far as napkins or paper towels are concerned, I’m pretty whatevers. HOWEVER! Y’all know I care about the chafiness of toilet paper. Unfortunately, the first brand of toilet paper we tried, Earth First, we’ve likened to tree bark. Can’t recommend it!
I been meaning to take a photo and post something about this for a while now, but I never got around to the photo. Cos I mean, what’s a post about toilet paper without a photo? :P But honestly, something had to be said! It’s a public service announcement, really. If I get around to the photo, I’ll edit this post to include.
Bunnies Just Wanna Have Fun
Of all the games we got with the Wii, I wouldn’t've expected it, but we finished Rayman: Raving Rabbids first. Yup, it’s all done, except for some reason, we’re stuck at 98% so I guess we have to go back and figure out what we missed winning on.
Anyhows, Rayman was full of super fun minigames, the controls worked really well with the wiimote and nunchuk (the rabbits demonstrated for you in case the written instructions weren’t perfectly clear, so cute!), it was just great and went by really fast. The other reason we got done fast is cos of the minigame format. I mean, even if we thought we had like 30 minutes that’d be okay. With a game like Zelda (also fun) it’s like it’s not worth it if we can’t devote a couple hours. (Or four. You know, whatevers.)
The Wii has been a complete hit, btw. Everyone but the 9-month-old tried at least Wii Sports, how’s that for cross-generational appeal?) Honestly, you may not know it, but you want one. :))
Almost makes me want Ventrilo…
This is What’s Left.
Okay, so I typed and I typed and then! Firefox crashed. So never mind. Suffice it to say, we’ve been busy. Besides catching up on stuff cos I dunno after a trip it always seems like there’s catchup stuff to do, Yb and Steve visited the area from like Thursday through Saturday night, and then! Wii launch was on Sunday. Unfortunately, the EB Games we pre-ordered from didn’t have a midnight launch. I asked them to (for what that’s worth) but they didn’t. Photos up on flickr. I started talking about the Edmonton trip which made me remember about the Roman theme room which is why those are the last pictures. But dude, was it not a cool room? If you go to the Fantasyland Hotel in Edmonton ever, I think the Roman theme room would be a good choice.
More Weather Wimpishness
It’s been raining on and off all day, about 57-58°F or 13-14°C (according to Yahoo! Weather). I forgot my umbrella. Months and months of carrying around that umbrella, just in case, and today of all days, forgetting it. Hmmph!
I passed by 2 girls walking in the rain around noontime and one said to the other, “Oh my God, it’s freezing today!” and I thought, “Hello weather wimpdom, I’m home!” Cos seriously, in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) it was like -1°C and snowing and people were running around in t-shirt and jeans. Damn show-offs.
Speaking of Edmonton, today, not coincidently 4 days after I returned, my phone started giving me a “Limited Service” message. I didn’t even pay it any mind ’til I tried to make a phone call and it told me “Emergency calls only” in a dark pink warning message. Spoiled by above freezing temperatures, I tell ya.

It’s weird trying to catch up on tv shows after the election and seeing lots of campaign ads. They seem extra dated.
Which really tells you what we’ve been doing since we got back home. I mean besides sleeping.
election
I missed it all cos I was in Canada (although we mailed in our votes last week), but I’m glad the Dems have a majority in Congress. And I hope everyone means it about the non-partisan, working together stuff everyone is saying. While I do think that the results of this election show people’s displeasure with Bush and Congress, I also think it was sort of a warning against the Tom DeLay brand of politicking, with its strict party discipline (voting purely along party lines) and meanness and hypocrisy. Made it really hard to be moderate or maybe even progressive Republicans (is there such a thing? :P).
More posts coming! Well probably.
All Hallows

Just wanted to say Happy Halloween!
Saw this at Barnes & Noble today:

Cute, huh?
We didn’t do much for Halloween this year. In the past, we’ve gotten dressed up, been to Halloween parties, carved pumpkins, and bought candy (although not everything every year). This year, we didn’t even manage the candy!
But I think it’s harder to get excited about it when Halloween is on a random weekday. Halloween should be the last Friday of October instead. I’m just full of ideas and suggestions about holidays. =)
