Goofy Olympics Coverage
I like the Olympics. It’s fun stuff, and if you’re not interested in one sport, pretty soon there’ll be another on. And there’s lots of sports that I’d normally never see, so that’s cool. But doooood, there’s way much “human interest” stories, that are v. heavy handed. Like right now there’s something comparing Bode Miller and Robert Redford, especially his one movie about skiing, forgot the title already. “Robert Redford, Bode Miller, American Iconoclasts” or something silly like that. Hmmph.
This sort of reminds me of all that Dan and Dave coverage leading up to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. For a while, I couldn’t turn on the tv without hearing about Dan and Dave. After all the talk, and all the ads, neither Dan nor Dave managed a medal in the decathlon:p (To be fair, Dan O’Brien won gold in the 1996 Atlanta games.)
Anyhows, there’s always lots of stories, and they set it to dramatic music, and all I can think is… get on with it already!!! (Am I too Grinchly? :p)
Speaking of Grinchly, I adore Dick Button. He makes figure skating more watchable. I love his snarky comments:)
Diamonds are so annoying.
Have you seen those diamond commercials on tv that say, “This anniversary, tell her I forever do.” or something awful like that? Everytime I hear that I am soooo annoyed. Soooo sooo annoyed. I mean for goodness’ sake, does that mean the first time around was, “Hmm, I do want an option on you, but I’m not sure yet. Let’s check back in a couple of years, ok?” or I guess more like, “I do for now.” Gawd!!! Those diamond people are so obnoxious. Oh and I hate their stupid print ad with the “right hand ring” too. That’s the one where in case you don’t wanna get married, or you’re not married yet for one reason or another, you buy yourself a diamond ring anyways. Or something. It’s so horrifying.
I’m not saying that all the diamond ads are terrible. Like the old one with the old couple in the park. I was being manipulated, I knew it, but it was kind of sweet and cute. But this current crop takes the cake. On the other hand, I obviously remember the ads. If only because I yelled at them:p But I tell ya, I can’t wait until cultured diamonds (diamonds that are human-made in labs that are structurally diamonds but under a gemologist’s loupe looks just a little too perfect to be a real from the earth diamond, I think) are widely available. They can be perfect, or colored, or whatever, and they can’t be blood diamonds, and they’re cheaper, and if life is good, they’ll signal the end of the cloying irritating ads.
Whew, good thing I’m done cos I was running out of synonyms for awful and annoying:p

still broken
I have no idea, am completely at a loss, and that’s the truth. I have a quiz (first one of the semester) on Thursday, so I don’t know how much I’m going to be playing with this.
But if I can’t fix it this weekend, I think I’ll try to convert to WordPress. Which is sad, cos I like all those Ajax thingies. Not that I know what Ajax is, but I think it’s what’s powering all those things that don’t require submit or have little motions. Like the live search and the cool little moving parts after commenting. Although I suppose WordPress has plugins for everything — I need to learn more. More news as I have it:) Although mostly shall be whining having to do with how I can’t figure anything out:p Sounds fun, don’t it?

Okay, I lied. I tried to fix it, but I can’t! I have NO IDEA what’s wrong, and no idea how to fix it:p
Typo is full of cool features, so I’d hate to switch, but maybe I have to.
Anyhows, I’ll fix it when I can!
outage
I dunno what I did, but I crashed Rails or Ruby or Typo (one of those) so now I can’t post to nothing edifying. Also, whatever I did made the page weird too. Like slow, or doesn’t show or stuff. I’ll try to fix it tonight. Also, blogger is having scheduled outage at 7pm PST tonight. Hehe, downtime everywhere.
Like Spring
Friday was the nicest day of the week: gorgeous and sunny. I don’t care what that groundhog says, it felt like spring.

Hrmmm, I think I’m going to have to create a “weather” category cos I talk about it a lot:p Also, completely unrelated, I am playing with themes again. This is “lucid” by some guy named Jamie Hall. I like the way you can switch colors and widths and whatnot — check out the top right corner:) I feel like this one is cooler, but chocomod (the previous one) had a certain charm. I dunno, what do y’all think? Any preferences?
Overheard
I was walking in front of these two girls, talking loudly. Well loud enough so I couldn’t help hearing stuffs:p
Girl1: Last night we had a fight. I was all busy with school work and I didn’t call him til 11. He was mad cos he has class at 8am today so he has to get up early.
Girl2: Oh ouch. (or somesuch, she wasn’t talking as loud, maybe the other girl was congested, I don’t know.)
Girl1: Yeah, I was like, “Don’t be mad at me, I’m sick!”
Me, thinking: OMG that’s just like Ryan (not-quite-3-year-old nephew)! When he was sick and we were trying to tell him to do stuff, he kept saying, “Don’t bother me, I’m sick! Hahaha
Well it amused me:p
