Damn Blogger

by mim

I don’t know why, but I tried yesterday to update my entry, but it wouldn’t let me. It’d let me see it and type stuff in, but when I tried to post, it wouldn’t work.

Anyhows, this is all I was trying to say:

Addendum: Like one hour after I said, “It BETTER NOT RAIN”, it rained hard. Luckily we were inside. Hope you guys weren’t caught in the rain, misa and neb!

Also, I forgot my umbrella today, which didn’t seem like it was going to be horrible, but then at 12:40pm just as I was walking because I had a 1pm thing I had to get to, it POURED! It was like one of those scenes in movies where they have fire trucks with hoses pouring down the fake rain only it was REAL! And I got soaked. So now I look like a wet rat:p The rain stopped the minute I got on the bus. Seriously, it’s
crazy:p

I am trying to update my blog and blogger is not cooperating. Jeez.

So anyhows, more later, if blogger is working properly then. Soooooo glad it’s Friday:)

Eyes on the Prize

by mim

misa and neb came to visit tonight. I think she just wanted the candles. Although who can blame her; I picked a nice prize for my no-downside pool. All you people who didn’t enter, AREN’T YOU SORRY NOW?!! Especially since misa and Kitty (!!! — I can’t stop with the exclams everytime I have to talk about how Kitty almost won:p) would’ve been your only real competitions. Yeah, if you weren’t sorry before, I bet you’re sorry now:D

We went to have pho, which misa was craving kinda. Funny thing is, we hadn’t had pho in a while and we had been thinking about going on Sunday except that it rained! AGAIN!!!! (It’s caps lock and multiple exclam day today.) Which I already whined about, so I won’t whine anymore. Much. Probably.

After pho, we passed by a candy/snacky store which was selling Pocky.
Green Tea Pocky
I’ve developed a little bit of a thing for green tea pocky. Last time we went to 99 (a few weekends ago) they had them on sale, and even though I tried to control myself, I inhaled them quite quickly indeed. I meant to write and tell everyone, with pictures, but I snarfed them before I could take any. So this time, I took the picture before I opened the box. (That’s thinking! I’m using my noggin!) Lisa bought a box of green tea and a box of some kind of white chocolatey almond stuff.

Which reminds me, is green tea flavoring having some kind of a renaissance? Cos also, yesterday at Jamba Juice, I noticed they had a lot of new flavors.
Matcha Green Tea Blast
We tried the Matcha Green Tea Blast, which you can’t tell is what it is in this picture, so you’ll just have to trust me:p Was like drinking green tea ice cream — yummilicious! I would’ve gona back for another today, but it got a little chilly. It BETTER NOT RAIN again!

The Sound of Muzak

by mim

or the Sound of Choking (Yut said that after I started sputtering.)

Anthony Federov sang Climb Ev’ry Mountain on American Idol tonight.

Oh. My. God.
He made it sound like horrible muzak! One of the nun songs! From my favorite musical! GahGahGAAAAAAAH! I hope he gets voted out for that horror. Actually, what was he thinking, picking a song originally sung in a famous movie by NUNS?! Good lord.

North Carolina 75, Illinois 70

The Tar Heels beat the Fighting Illini. GO ACC! :)

Final Scores:

  • misa: 56
  • Kitty: 49
  • Yut: 46
  • mim: 42
  • Seth & CT: 32

Actually they didn’t change from my previous posting:p

So the final prize was going to be stickers or a postcard, but then I remembered when we went to the Berkeley Farmer’s Market and the honey dude was selling cute (probably “organic”:p) beeswax candles.

bunny candles
So that’s your prize, misa! :p

I’m thinking about doing a postcard of shame for the last place people, Seth and CT. teeheehee no mercy:p We’ll see.

The Penultimate March Madness Post

by mim

… for this year, anyhows:p

Final Four Final
Okay, misa, gloat if you like… ’til next time! If the Illini win, she will be 17 points over her nearest competitor, Kitty(!!! I can’t get over this:p), and double the pointage of Seth and CT. Wow.

I’ve figured out what’s first prize, will take a picture and post sometime after Monday’s final, which should be v. exciting. Two number ones going to the final… I wonder how often that happens…

In other goings-on, for the second Sunday in a row, we tried to go out to take care of some errands, but for some reason, no matter how lovely the week has been, on Sunday afternoon, it’s cloudy. (That was a horrible mishmash of verb tense, oh well, I sucked in English class.) And some time after we leave the house, it starts to drizzle, then rain. You see, it’s not that I’m egotistical, you can see why I think the weather is spiteful. I mean, seriously two weeks in a row?! So we don’t get much done. Although we did finally manage to buy tax software. We’re procrastinators:p You can get TaxCut Deluxe, TaxCut State, Deduction Pro, and Microsoft Money 2005 Standard or possibly Deluxe for about $5 after rebates. I think if you paid a lot of attention, you can possibly make money after rebates on all of this, but we didn’t care that much, we just wanted it close to 0. The rebates aren’t limited by store, so I think the limiting factor is if you can find a good coupon/promotional code — I had one for $15 off $75 over the phone at Office Max (080511310225 if anyone needs it).

Anyhows, since our attempts at grocery shopping were stymied by the rain, we came home and watched Saw (starring Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter, et. al.) this afternoon instead. It wasn’t v. good. There were lots of gruesome parts, and some scary parts, but nothing resembling sense or likeability. I wanted to like it, for Cary Elwes’s sake if nothing else — I mean, he’s Westley from the Princess Bride! — but honestly, I didn’t even like him or his character. Ugh. Oh well.

Hodge Podge: April Fools, Anchorman, The Sims 2, &c

by mim

I totally forgot it was April Fools’ Day today.

Although it’s not a holiday that I “get”…I’m not too good at the fooling, and I’m waaaay too easy to fool. Oh well. Yeah, wow, that was boring:p

Julie and Al came over tonight and brought pizza, out of the kindness of their hearts:D We supplied the beer. We watched Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which stars Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate. It was sooo silly. Definitely had its funny moments, but doood, some of it was just sooo ridiculous. In fact, Will Ferrell said it himself in one of the outtakes: “This is just too ridiculous!” But still, it also had some laugh out loud moments and some cute moments, just not something I’d wanna see again…maybe overpowered by the silliness, is how I felt about it. Oh and Julie brought back Yut’s sunglasses and my umbrella. Today was a lovely sunny day, but next week or weekend will probably be rainy again, although now that I have an umbrella, maybe not:D

But it’s super late now, and I dunno why I’m still up. Oh wait, I do know, I been playing games. Lately, my Sims have been frustrating me incredibly. One of the families I have (the family I’m trying to play right now) is soooo buggy. Like right now, I can’t get the younger kids into private school cos I invite the headmaster, but the headmaster never shows. And sometimes, someone will go pick up the baby, but for some reason, they’ll get stuck. So then you can’t pick up the baby, and the one who first got stuck can’t move. So they stand there til they pee in their pants and they’re sooo hungry and sleepy and unhappy but they won’t move. And since the baby has needs, the other members of the household keep trying to check on the baby. It’s sooo annoying. I just quit without saving and then come back to it again. But sometimes that means losing hours of gameplay. Gahgahgahgahgah! (I can feel it now: you’re rolling your eyes, thinking “oooooh, losing hours of gameplay”:p Luckily this has only happened with this one family. But unfortunately, no patches for University yet, and I can’t apply the Sims 2 patch cos I already installed Univ. But I would imagine that Univ would patch Sims automatically. I don’t know. Just frustrating, trying to play like this. Fix it, Maxis/EA/whomever! Fix it!!!!

Maybe I’ll go play a different family for a bit:) Or maybe sleep and play diff family tomorrow. Yeah, maybe that. Oooph tired. For some reason, when it’s a weeknight (with work the next morning) I don’t feel too sleepy at all, but on a weekend, I start getting sleepy early… only I manage to put it off for a few hours, COS I CAN! That’s the kind of mature person I am.

Wee! It’s Wee!

by mim

I obviously stayed up too late again, but it’s wee!! Cheeky wee monkeys! That’s even better:)

Anyhows, I tried to check this page during the day today and blogger was all slow and weird and sometimes wouldn’t come up. And also the day before. So yeah, maybe blogger is just a wee bit overloaded? They need to fix that! But I’ll tell you what though… at 2am blogger works brilliantly:p

American Idol Voting Craziness

by mim

Today was the American Idol results show.
The bottom three were Jessica Sierra, Anwar Robinson, and Nadia Turner!!!! OMG, this is unbelievable; they are three of the best singers left. Honestly, I hate that Carrie Underwood is still on, and Jessica’s gone.

You know, the funny thing about this whole “voting” thing is that I’m always lamenting the low voter turnout for national election, especially in younger voters, but now I’m thinking if the low voter turnout isn’t a good thing. Cos doooooood, Jessica?! With the lowest votes?! Gaaaaaaah!

I guess the other way I could look at it is… too many people didn’t vote so that a few crazy people can keep putting Carrie Underwood through. Well plus Simon thinks she’s cute or something, he keeps talking her up. Okay, I don’t know what to think.

Maybe the point here is that I shouldn’t try to draw some kind of wider thematic thought from American Idol:p

On a yummier note, my cheeky li’l monkeys, we had hot ham, tomato, egg, and swiss sandwiches for dinner today:)

Ham Cheese Tomato Sandwich
Just bread (we used Pain au Levain from the Acme Bread Company this time), butter, dijon mustard, swiss, tomato, and ham. Fried egg optional, but yummy!

It’s important to use really good mustard. This time we used Inglehoffer Spicy Dijon Mustard with white wine, but I think we’ve had better for this sandwich. Although it’s a v. good mustard for licking off the knife:)

Haha, I just realized I am trying to give food/cooking advice! Me! I’m the one who messed up instant noodles! (That’s pretty hard to do, but I managed it.) Oh the irony.

Cheeky Li’l Monkeys!

by mim

Lately we’ve been staying up late so we end up catching the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He’s soooo cute and funny:) He says things like, “Hello, you cheeky li’l monkeys!” And with a Scottish accent, omg! I heart Craig Ferguson! He almost makes me want to be an actress or model (definitely C— list celebrity, just barely famous enough) just so I can meet him and he can say cheeky li’l monkey:D

But we have to stop, cos today we both overslept.

misa wins!

by mim

Elite 8

misa has the most points and she’s the only one left who can still win points. Seriously most of the rest of us got trounced. Kitty’s currently only one point off, but still.

Today’s Kentucky v. Michigan St. game was pretty damn good though. Double overtime for a chance into the Final Four! Now I’m going to have to find something for misa for winning this “pool”:)

And now, for my non-basketball snippet (cos I’m multi-dimensional):
I think it’s strawberry season. We went to Berkeley Bowl (grocery store) and they had a lot of strawberries:p Anyhows, they were really good, especially with some whipped cream. Strawberries ‘n’ cream is sooo good:)

Yeah, that was it:p
