Yogurt – A Rodney Dangerfield Type Story

We went grocery shopping tonight. Safeway has Yoplait yogurt for sale (20 for $10, 50¢ each). I really like the Custard Style vanilla yogurt and the Whips, too. Well, so I started grabbing yogurt. After I picked up around 10, I stopped, wondering if I’d maybe gotten too many. Yut wandered back right at this point, and said, “Wow 20 for 10! Are you sure you got enough? Maybe you should get some more.” He was saying this in sort of a loudish voice, and when I half turned I realized there was a random girl who’d stopped to look at the yogurt too! And she was slightly turned toward me, sureptitiously looking at me funny!!! Argh!

Then he continued, still in the loudish voice, “Are you sure you don’t want 30?! I know you’re crazy like that!” She looked at me even funnier. I was silenced, giving him dirty looks. There was nothing I could say that wouldn’t make me look crazier.

He suddenly wheeled the cart down another aisle. Then he stopped and laughed and laughed. Oh yeah, so funny:p

Backlash Redux

My computer blue-screened! In the middle of Sims! I got my 2 new characters into the Academie Le Tour secret society finally:( Which btw, isn’t as nice as the Sim State University secret society. But hours and hours of making friends and and having 3 lovers and getting on Dean’s Lists (Which btw, is a perfect rebuttal to all of those people who wonder how the Sims can be fun when it’s just like real life. Hello?! Dean’s List? Hahahahaha.. ha. :p) and pooooof! Gone! I think it’s payback for my snarkiness lately:p It was like a karmic schadenfreude sort of thing. Gah:(

Oh well, at least now I will get to sleep in a timely manner.

Backlash

Overheard today:

So I said, “I want a tall coffee please.” And she was all, “We don’t do that.”
So I was all, “I mean a small coffee.”
I hate when people can figure out what you want and purposefully don’t get it!

It’s like Starbucks backlash backlash.

There is a lot of tv on today (I think I say this every Tuesday):

  • Jeopardy!
  • Good Eats — an episode about grilling today. Now that the weather is getting better, it’s time to start thinking about breaking out the charcoal.
  • American Idol
  • Amazing Race — the last season just fucking ended for Christ’s sake! Why’s it on again?!
  • House — same time as Amazing Race. Actually I really like this show. We watched it randomly one day, and now we record it.
  • Law & Order: SVU — of course!

I voted on American Idol yesterday. Just once. <sheepish>

Disturbing Two

Doood, I should like stop watching TV.

Okay no, not really.

But “Pamela Anderson is going to be starring in a new comedy called ‘Stacked’ — because it’s set in a bookstore. What did you think we meant?” Whaaaaaaa?! Either way it’s disturbing!

I’m watching American Idol (3x a week!) and today, they seem to have decided on a zodiac theme. Each singer has a little introductory piece where they talk about their zodiac sign and how it’s affected them. Like Mario who said something like, “I’m a Gemini, and that’s the twins. Last week I tried to show more my fun side, and this week I’m going to try to show a more serious side. I think this reflects the duality of Geminis.” Erm…

Also, if your name isn’t Travis, please don’t try to dance on American Idol:p It’s disturbing. Although according to Randy and Simon, if your name is Travis and you dance, you don’t sing too well.

C is for Cookie

chocolate Enigma
Chocolate Enigma cookies from Trader Joe’s.

Yut got these cookies from a co-worker. They look unprepossessing, but doooood they’re good. It was a close thing, I almost forgot to take a photo before eating the very last lone cookie:p

Also, it’s Girl Scout cookie season. They set themselves up right near BART stations, which is a great idea. Cos everytime I pass by, I am tempted to buy some. Well so far, I’ve gotten two boxes of Thin Mints, but if I see them some more, I’m going to have to buy more boxes of cookies.

I meant to make this post Friday, but I was too caught up with my Sims:D Which basically describes almost everything this weekend:p

Except yesterday we managed to make it out for dinner with misa and neb. We went to Downtown in Berkeley cos they have raw oysters, good cocktails, and good food too. I especially like their seafood stuffs and cucumber cosmopolitans. I don’t know why the mulled (is that the right word? grated?) cucumber and cucumber vodka (is there such a thing?) make such a big difference, but it’s a lovely drink. Their bouillabaisse is what made Yut and me want to try to make one, but it’s a seasonal changing menu, so they didn’t have bouillabaisse on their menu this time. We got Sautèed Local Petrale Sole and Seafood Sausage, both good! We liked the sole better than the sausage, a little. Part of the problem with the sausage is that even though it’s seafoody, it’s hard to really taste the individual stuffs. Still though, it was good, and creative too — we’d never had anything like it. misa and neb got the Soup of the Day (butternut squash with leek, I think), crispy confit duck leg, and also the Petrale Sole.

After dinner we went to my office to check out my new cubicle:) I led the way straight to my office, but I had to look up where the restrooms were:p After all this time, I haven’t fully figured everything out yet. It’s a nice place, only the break room smelled kind of funny. neb said that it reminded him of a dorm kitchen area.

I was going to post this yesterday, but I got caught up with my Sims:p It’s cos I was trying to get one of my Sims into the secret society. Which I finally made it in:D The Landgrabb Society, where their meeting house has like all sorts of cool stuff like Simoleon printers. Also, now if my Sim’s logic is high enough (I don’t know what high enough means) I can have her “hack in” to change her grades. Oooooooh yes! Haven’t had a chance yet to play much since she joined, so… :D

Missing Lennie

There are probably spoilers if you care about that sort of thing:›

There’s a competition between CSI and Law & Order for the most and best franchises (it’s like KFC vs Popeyes:p) — CSI, CSI: Miami, and CSI: NY vs Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and now Law & Order: Trial by Jury. I like Law & Order better myself; if nothing else I find all of them watchable, whereas I only watch CSI.

Today was the premiere of Law & Order: Trial by Jury. I wasn’t sure it was going to be good, but I knew I was going to watch it cos it’s one of Jerry Orbach’s last performances. Dooooood, I love Lennie Briscoe! He made Law & Order great! He had these great lines! And today, I found how that he kept up with technology! He charmed a woman into testifying for the grand jury by saying something like, “hey, haven’t I seen you in some commercial?” and when his partner made some comment about how it was an easy guess that she was an actress but Lennie’d even managed to have seen a commercial, Lennie said, “Actually Tivo has this nice little button that lets me skip all of the commercials.” Zing! :) I really miss Lennie on Law & Order. I mean, I love Green and Fontana’s growing on me, but neither of them can deliver sarcastic smartass like Briscoe.

Despite my doubts, I liked Trial by Jury. I mean, it made me stop playing The Sims 2 University! In Law & Order (any of them), you always see a lot of cop work and prosecution work. Although you see a bit more of the prosecution (like the witness preparation), in Trial by Jury, you see a lot of the defense and the jury stuff, like the part (which they showed a lot on the preview/commercials) where Maggie Detweiller the defense attorney got advice from the jury consultants: “I would start with, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, where is the body?’” was really cool. And I liked the part where Candice Bergen (the judge) complained to another judge that the jury had been deliberating for days, and the other judge said, juries all over the country will be finishing up deliberations tonight. When Candice Bergon asked why, he said, “The playoffs are starting tomorrow.” Good times, good times:)

Disturbing

The tv’s on on the side. In less than ½ hour’s time, there’ve been 2 emergency broadcast alerts on tv to describe child abductions. One was about an abduction yesterday, and one today, but still! That’s crazy.

Metapost. Also, some Other Stuff

So it’s March, and I was gonna write this post (or something like it) yesterday, but I got distracted. I dunno why, I didn’t like college all that much for chunks of it, but dooood, making Sims go to school is ok:D teeheehee — more on that later, probably:p

February was like a month for scaring people off children, what with the wailing and messy cake eating and whatnot:D I didn’t mean to! Actually for a person with no children, I posted about kids a lot! Okay twice. Whatever!

About that time I thought I messed up my divs again: I think I didn’t. Only on my father-in-law’s laptop (the 10 lb 17″ screen behemoth), the resolution is really high, but the font size is also turned waaaaaay up so I think it messed up the display cos every line took up sooo much space. Thank goodness, cos I’m not that with it in terms of this web stuff and fixing divs and other such things are tedious, if not impossible!!!

Internet Explorer 6 seems to display things weird, what with the disappearing and reappearing text stuff. I think scrolling up and down fixes it sometimes, but IT’S SO WEIRD!! I hate not knowing what’s wrong:p

IE6 Problem
See what I mean? That’s just not normal
So what am I doing wrong? Grrr… luckily less than 50% of the visits to this site are on IE6.

Okay, on to other stuff:) It’s been fun, but I do think that it’s extremely resource intensive. It’s certainly the most resource intensive application that I run, bar none. So in a way, my reinstallation was a good thing, albiet a pain:p I have an AMD Athlon 1900 with 512mb RAM and a GeForce FX 5200 vid card, which I’ve had for years, but it’s been fine for everything else. It’s almost fine except now and then there’s a little pause when there’s lots of characters or something. Maybe turn off some processes if you have a lot running, which is what the instruction booklet says to do, but their advice seems really aggressive:p

Speaking of excess processes though, now, for the advice portion of this post!
Kitty: lol well ur not online buh i wanted to ask you. is weatherbug spyware?… cuz its from nbc… sooo im not sure…

I don’t think you should install Weatherbug. It’s not spyware or anything, but the free version has ad-ware to serve those ads, so to me, it’s like why bother:p Plus some people have complained about how it can be difficult to uninstall. Yuck:p

Okay all this Sims talk is making me wanna play!

Addendum:
I forgot to mention this. University is fun except for the Greek System. It’s all messed up!! Like everytime I invite the frat brothers over cos I want one of my chars to join the frat, they make motions like there’s something in their way, then they all fall down to the ground and you CAN’T INTERACT with them! But the scenario requires that you get to know them a little before you can join the frat. And so then I tried to play the frat house and it just never loads up. So yeah, needs patch. That sucks though.

The forums make it sound like it’s if you have a lot of hacks and downloaded stuff installed that you have problems. But I had a completely clean installation of The Sims 2 and almost completely clean installation of my computer, so I don’t think that’s it. Oh well, guess shoulda waited for the first patch:p That’s soooo wrong:p

Sims 2 University Expansion

is mine! I’m installing it now as I type:D
Ooooh yes.

I must say though, installing the Sims 2 is a pain! 4 discs! And since I didn’t reinstall the Sims 2 when I reinstalled my computer, it’s taking soooooooo long. And now it’s updating and asking for Sims 2 disc 4 and then Sims 2 University disc 1 (the expansion has 2 discs too). Gaaaaawd! This better be the end of it!

Also, on the back of the cd case for the expansion is an advertisement for expansion #2, to be released fall this year supposedly! (The Sims 2 Nightlife) Omg, I can’t keep up:p

Oh, it’s done installing:)
