Madness Continues
Okay I am so depressed now. It’s like this year every school decided to try and fill Maryland’s disappoint-me-no-end shoes:p
Gaaaaah. Will calculate everything later, and add on to this post.
Okay it’s later, here’s the scores:

Seth is winning! Leading the race for the postcard or sticker or whatever:p
More March Madness
I talked CT and Yut into filling one out too:) If anyone else wants this spreadsheet to fill out, lemme know:D It’s really Todd’s spreadsheet. I’m taking all of his stuff and running a lil pool of my own:)

CT’s bracket – She forgot to pick a winner… Ok she verbally said Charlotte. It’s the name of one of her Sims:p

Yut’s bracket (he picked Connecticut)
It’s free! There’s no downside! Not much of an upside either, of course, but whatever!
Addendum:

Kitty’s bracket
Only she forgot to pick a winner, too. So I asked her, and she said, “uh… UCLA! lol!”
Channeling Simon
It’s Tuesday — you know I was watching American Idol! Today’s theme was the 60s.
But I have to be snarky today cos it was not good:p For one thing, this year’s American Idol girls are overall pretty bad. Everyone I know who watches agrees with me on this one! (Okay, so everyone in this case is Yut and Julie cos no one else admits to watching Idol.) In the past (except maybe the season with Ruben and Clay) usually the girls are better. But today, they sucked equally.
The rundown (approximate order):
- Jessica: Probably the second best girl in the competition (to me at least). But today she sucked. Somehow, it didn’t sound horrible or anything but it never grabbed. Kinda boring.
- Anwar: My personal fave. But today, he was only ok. Still pretty damn good compared to the rest.
- Mikalah: She’s from Vegas, but somehow she channels Fran Drescher. Better than last week, but still not good.
- Constantine: One of two “rockers” in the show. I guess he’s the one who’s supposed to be good looking and charismatic, but not as good a singer, but he did ok. But BORING! It was the theme of the show!
- Lindsey: Her voice is really cool and different (sort of low and sultry, I guess), which is why I think she’s still on. Cos her performances are BORING! Never grabs. Always feel forced.
- Anthony: He sang “Breaking Up is Hard To Do” but muzak style. So bad. Ugh.
- Nadia: I think she’s the best of the chicks. She did really well today. Probably the best of the night.
- Bo: The other rocker. He’s clearly the one that Simon has pegged to win the competition. Simon’s obvious that way. But he’s such a cliché! With the long hair, the leather pants, and that habit of grabbing his microphone and its stand and walking around with it. So “cool”. Personally, today, as he was singing, he all of a sudden reminded me of Vincent (the Beast) from that old tv show Beauty and the Beast with Linda Hamilton as Beauty.
- Vonzell: She sang some song by Dionne Warwick. To explain why she picked it, she said that when she heard it, it gave her shivers. Which made me think… Psychic Friends Network! Anyhows, she wasn’t bad. But I was distracted by the whole psychic friends thing:p
- Scott: Eh, he was good, for today. Whatever.
- Carrie: Sucked today. She’s supposed to be the “good country girl” but honestly, I’m tone deaf and I could still tell she was outta tune some parts:p I think she sucks the worst.
- Nikko: He’s the replacement for Mario who left for personal reasons. Today’s performance sounded frenzied and desperate to me. Dude, you’re back already, and you’re glad to be back, I get it. You can cool the desperation.
Okay, I’m done with the snarkfest:)
March Madness
Lost networking for an hour here at work. Dooooooood! It’s like impossible to work with no networking nowadays. But it gave me time to think about March Madness and fill out my NCAA basketball tournament bracket (which I luckily printed out on paper before the outage:D
Since I never pay any attention to sports ’til just in time for March Madness, this is tough:D Still though, it’s my fave yearly sports thing. Cos it’s 1 game decides it all, so it’s exciting. When I’m done I’ll put up my efforts. This whole no UMd thing is messing me up:p
If anyone wants to submit theirs, I’ll put it up too. Lessee… 1 pt for each first round game, 2 pts for each second round game, then 3, 4, 6, and finally 8 pts for the championship game. (I copied that from Todd.) Whoever wins will get a sticker or a postcard or both or something:p Mail me at whichever address you like, or nothingedifying at yahoo dot com.
Okay here it is, I still might edit this some more. If you’re wondering if Oklahoma State is really good this year and you never heard of it, then I’ll tell ya, me neither:p
Wedding

Saturday, March 12th was Clifford and Jaynry’s wedding.
Weddings… they give me eye boogers. That’s why I was rubbing at my eyes. There’s something so inherently sweet and optimistic about them. Except I can’t admit to anything as un-cynical as that:p

The ceremony was held at San Francisco City Hall Rotunda.

The flower girl and ring bearer — Too cute! :)

There were hours inbetween the ceremony and banquet/reception, so Al, Julie, Yut, and I went to Japantown in San Francisco and had some sushi (buffet). We watched Be Cool, which was pretty fun. Really light fare, but fun. Then we went to Sophie’s Crepes and had their “Japanese” crepe, which had red bean paste and green tea ice cream and something else, but I forget what. It was yummy! I’d never had anything like it:) We ate it like an ice cream cone. Julie knows all these yummy places to eat in the city, and since me and Yut never go, we were like, we just had buffet, and dinner’s soon…sure let’s have a crepe, too! And then we went to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and got these English Breakfast tea lattes (which is like a latte only instead of coffee, they use tea). Delish! I wish I could go get another one right now, actually. Right after that, we went to the banquet.

The banquet was at Yank Sing Restaurant in the Rincon Center. They set up the food court area with a huge number of chairs and tables — It looked beautiful.
There were like a bajillion courses, I don’t remember how many. I took pictures after I remembered. The food was really good, and overall, it was a great party:) There was a cash bar, but red wine and sodas were hosted (freeeeeeee!!! oh yes!) Did I mention that it was a great party?? Well, ok, it was also a great party cos I’ve never seen the bride and groom look sooo happy. They grinned at each other a lot. Well, when I was looking that’s how it seemed:p

Besides the hosted red wine, there was cognac at the table. And of course, the sparkling wine flowed. Then Lingo showed up with 3 different bottles of wine for the table.
Yut got all toasty really early on. I have some lovely red pictures of him, but he won’t let me post them:p You can tell he’s gotten a bit buzzed when he turns red, then starts to itch. I think he has an alcohol allergy of some sort. But he’s all warm and fun (that’s an euphemism for “even pervier than normal” :D)! Then he gets sleepy, but since it was a party he didn’t fall asleep. He also sobers up pretty fast.
I’d never really seen either Lingo or Barry drunk ever before. And Jen said that it’d been years since Barry’d had a lot to drink. That was practically a challenge! So me, Yut, and Al spent half the night drinking with Barry. You have to be sneaky, cos if everyone drinks the same amount, that’s no good. Everyone has to drink, but preferably separately, so one person’s drinking much more than the rest. Plus he was knew tons of other people so he was drinking with them too… Dude, though, we overdid it a lil. When Lingo’s buzzed he gets talkative and funny. (He was a great unofficial MC for the reception:) ) But when Barry’s drunk, he’s only ever so slightly different from normal — well except to Jen, who said she could tell he was feeling it, early on:D But since I couldn’t tell, I kept saying, another sip, Barry! Sorry Jen!!! The reception was lots of fun though! :)

One final picture:) — someone was carted home. Luckily the party ended when it did, for me. I went home and yakked up all bajillion courses. Which is why this post is happening now, instead of earlier. We had to wash all of the sheets today:p Sorry Yut! Thanks for taking care of me. Love you!!!!!!!! <sheepish grin> Even though Al drank more than me, he was totally ok. Hmmmph:p Julie said that since it was technically his friend’s wedding, he would get to drink, and she would drive:D Hehe:) Fun day:) Dooood, we were out of the apartment for a LONG time for a Saturday:p
Congrats again, guys:)
It’s Spring, No One Wants to Work.
The weather (I know, I’m talking about the weather again, I’m sorry) has been soooo beautiful lately. Especially after all the rain for weeks and weeks, the bright blue skies and sunny warmth is so lovely. It’s hard to be inside. I spend a lot of time looking outside, or walking slowly, or picking lunch places with outdoor seating:p
Unfortunately, I think computers feel the same way. Seriously, I think I’ve reinstalled like 5 computers since mid-February. It’s craziness!!! They’re all like… nooooooo, turn me back off. NOW! Gah!
Addendum: This includes the UMD basketball team. I forgot to mention, the Terps lost in the first round of the ACC tournament. They knew that the game was must win! Actually, the last game of the season was pretty must win too, but the first game of the ACC tournament was must-must-win! And they lost! For the third time in one season to Clemson! Gaaaaaaaah! Now they won’t make it to the NCAA tournament. Who am I going to put way further into the tournament bracket than they deserve now?
Co-worker was talking about how he had a midterm coming up in his class.
I said, “Wow, good luck!”
Then I added, “My Sims just finished their midterms too!”
Gah! Goes to show I was thinking hard about work:p But at least I didn’t say “doomed”.
We went grocery shopping tonight. Safeway has Yoplait yogurt for sale (20 for $10, 50¢ each). I really like the Custard Style vanilla yogurt and the Whips, too. Well, so I started grabbing yogurt. After I picked up around 10, I stopped, wondering if I’d maybe gotten too many. Yut wandered back right at this point, and said, “Wow 20 for 10! Are you sure you got enough? Maybe you should get some more.” He was saying this in sort of a loudish voice, and when I half turned I realized there was a random girl who’d stopped to look at the yogurt too! And she was slightly turned toward me, sureptitiously looking at me funny!!! Argh!
Then he continued, still in the loudish voice, “Are you sure you don’t want 30?! I know you’re crazy like that!” She looked at me even funnier. I was silenced, giving him dirty looks. There was nothing I could say that wouldn’t make me look crazier.
He suddenly wheeled the cart down another aisle. Then he stopped and laughed and laughed. Oh yeah, so funny:p
Backlash Redux
My computer blue-screened! In the middle of Sims! I got my 2 new characters into the Academie Le Tour secret society finally:( Which btw, isn’t as nice as the Sim State University secret society. But hours and hours of making friends and and having 3 lovers and getting on Dean’s Lists (Which btw, is a perfect rebuttal to all of those people who wonder how the Sims can be fun when it’s just like real life. Hello?! Dean’s List? Hahahahaha.. ha. :p) and pooooof! Gone! I think it’s payback for my snarkiness lately:p It was like a karmic schadenfreude sort of thing. Gah:(
Oh well, at least now I will get to sleep in a timely manner.
Backlash
Overheard today:
So I said, “I want a tall coffee please.” And she was all, “We don’t do that.”
So I was all, “I mean a small coffee.”
I hate when people can figure out what you want and purposefully don’t get it!
It’s like Starbucks backlash backlash.
There is a lot of tv on today (I think I say this every Tuesday):
- Jeopardy!
- Good Eats — an episode about grilling today. Now that the weather is getting better, it’s time to start thinking about breaking out the charcoal.
- American Idol
- Amazing Race — the last season just fucking ended for Christ’s sake! Why’s it on again?!
- House — same time as Amazing Race. Actually I really like this show. We watched it randomly one day, and now we record it.
- Law & Order: SVU — of course!
I voted on American Idol yesterday. Just once. <sheepish>
